My art retreats take place in our beautiful little bach in Whiritoa on the Coromandel (between Waihi and Whangamata) and is a causal two minutes stroll to the beach. Both my partner Glenn and I are artists and collectors of New Zealand art. We have created a little “arty” haven, where you will be inspired by every corner you see!
My intention for these weekends is to provide an escape from your every day life, share my creative processes with you, teach techniques and skills that will enable you to turn inspiration into art. Find joy in nature and tune back into play and adventure. Meet like minded people, reflect on your life and explore new ideas in a safe space. Beginners right through to experienced artists are welcome. These retreats are all about you and going at whatever level you want to.
I have thirty years experience of teaching art in the community both in the UK and NZ . I have literally taught hundreds of people how to unlock their creative gifts and enjoy the rewards of making art.
The retreat starts on the Friday from 2pm and finishes on Sunday at 3pm. There are two single rooms both with queen size beds and one shared room, with two single beds. All linen is supplied but you need to bring your own towels.
I provide all your food . It is one of my passions and I can promise you that I will spoil and delight you.(Let me know special dietary requirements) You will need to supply your own alcoholic drinks.
I provide art materials for making vision boards. All other art materials need to be brought by you. I will demonstrate, drawing skills, pen line work and water colours. I am happy to tutor you in Acrylic painting on canvas too. I am also happy to give you feedback on any art projects you want to show me. You will need a small sketchbook and pens etc to take notes in.
The cost of the retreat is $450 for a shared room and $530 for your own room. I allow people to pay in instalments, which works really well.
Here’s some of the feedback I got from my last retreat.
“Thank you for that wonderful retreat Claire, I needed it more than I realised! I’m going to take regular little bits of time out from now on to nurture myself, and as you say, then be able to give back to everyone else.” Carolyn.
“Thank you Claire Delaney for this most special weekend. I have come home with my inner child happy and my heart more peaceful. And a shift in seeing the beauty in the artwork. Beautiful memories thank you.” Michelle.
“I feel renewed, so much more than an art retreat. The power from a group of like-minded souls, looking for their best selves is wonderful.” Bren.
“So great for me to stop, jump off the wheel of life and land in beautiful Whiritoa and the inspiring space Claire has created there. The retreat allowed me time and a quiet space to myself, to reconnect with nature, my love of writing and creativity. I also appreciated the nourishing and nurturing meals Claire created for us and the connection with the other beautiful souls who attended the weekend.” Tania.
